What is LARP?

Combine the rules and stats of a tabletop RPG (like Dungeons & Dragons) with the freeform character play of improv theater, and that's Live-Action Roleplaying.  Players create fantasy characters using the rules of the game, then act as those imaginary people in a controlled environment managed by a Storyteller.

"Play is foundational for bonding relationships and fostering tolerance.

It’s where we learn to trust and where we learn about the rules of the game. Play increases creativity and resilience, and it’s all about the generation of diversity—diversity of interactions, diversity of behaviors,

diversity of connections."

Isabel Behncke
Field ethologist and primatologist

"The imagination is an essential tool of the mind, a fundamental way of thinking, an indispensable means of becoming and remaining human."

Ursula K. Le Guin
Author

Play matters because people matter. It reminds us of our interdependence and gives us a chance to really see other people. And in turn, to be really and truly seen. ”

Games

All games take place in seperate universes.

Changeling: The Dreaming

The Seelie and Unseelie Courts battle for supremacy while the Shadow Court continues to amass power. Winter is rising, and the high throne is empty.

Vampire: Sabbat

A story of inhuman creatures spurred by the very human desire for power. Bound by rituals, fearful of Hunters, they still must feed to survive.

Houston's New Moon LARP Club

An independent troupe of gamers, nerds, geeks, dorks, players, actors, and other such nonsense.

New Moon is a cooperative gaming club that focuses primarily, but not exclusively, on LARPs.

New players are always welcome! We will happily teach you the rules of the games we play while you participate in them, and we highly encourage members to run their own short-term/mini stories within the greater chronicles.
